The latest MTG universes Beyond crossover, Assassin’s Creed, is almost here! Containing only 100 cards, this micro set is definitely unusual but there are some familiar features. We could hardly have an MTG set without some cards being expensive now, could we?!

More so than normal, MTG players will be wondering about the value of the Assassin’s Creed cards they crack. With no Limited environment to consider, each pack is nothing but value. Thanks to this, it’s well worth knowing the most expensive cards that this set has to offer.

7 | Sword of Light and Shadow

Price: $8

As much as the new Assassin’s Creed cards are fun and exciting, MTG players can’t help but love reprints. Even while bringing the price of cards down, many reprints can still be rather lucrative pulls from packs. This is certainly the case for Sword of Light and Shadow, which sees decent and consistent Commander play.

Offering buffs, protection, life gain, and reanimation, Sword of Light and Shadow can be incredibly useful in a great many decks. As good as it is, however, the most interesting thing about it right now is its price. Currently, the Assassin’s Creed variant of this card is far below the expected value.

On TCGplayer, copies of Sword of Light and Shadow typically sell for around $18. With the new Assassin’s Creed variant selling for over $10 less, it’s a great affordable option to many players. That being said, it’s entirely possible this card’s price will climb back up. Once packs start getting cracked properly, expect to see a lot of movement in this card’s price.

6 | Black Market Connections

Price: $9

Typically selling for at least $16, Black Market Connections is a fantastic reprint to see. Offering versatile utility in a great many Commander decks, Black Market Connections provides repeat and consistent value. While this does come at the cost of your life, Commander’s 40 starting total life makes this not a problem.

Given that Black Market Connections is a popular and powerful card, its current price is surprisingly low. While it’s common for new reprints to be worth less than their past printings, the difference is nonetheless startling. Right now, Black Market Connections is available for at least $6 less than past versions.

Currently, it’s unknown which way the price of Black Market Connections will go. Depending on the supply of Assassin’s Creed, this new reprint could bring prices down across the board. Alternatively, due to the demand for this card, the price of this new reprint may slowly climb up, or at least meet in the middle. It is also worth mentioning that this card is now legal in the Modern format. That could affect prices of Black Market Connections, but we doubt it will.

5 | Ezio, Blade of Vengeance

Price: $15

Much like many of the potential Assassin’s Creed Commanders, Ezio, Blade of Vengeance isn’t that great individually. Sure, with a good supporting cast, they can keep your hand overflowing with cards, but that utility isn’t game-winning. As a result, most of the interest around Ezio, Blade of Vengeance comes from their strength in a deck’s 99.

In an Assassin Typal deck, Ezio, Blade of Vengeance provides an invaluable source of card draw. That is the case provided they don’t get swiftly removed, at least. Offering Deathtouch and a sizable body themselves, Ezio, Blade of Vengeance is a pretty good blocker too, for what it’s worth.

Right now, the price of Ezio, Blade of Vengeance does seem a little high. While they’re a great card in any Assassin Typal deck, interest in this archetype is likely to face away. Once the Assassin’s Creed set releases and Bloomburrow takes center stage, this card’s price may fall off.

For now, Ezio, Blade of Vengeance is still one of the most expensive cards you can find in the Assassin’s Creed set. Whether or not that will last, however, remains to be seen. As a note, Ezio, Blade of Vengeance can only be found in the Assassin’s Creed Starter Kit.

4 | Altair Ibn-La’Ahad

Price: $13

Altair Ibn-La’Ahad marks the begining of a series of Mythic Rare Assassins that are seeing a ton of Commander play that pop up on this list. The popularity of the Assassin’s Creed set was lower than expected, making cards much more scarce than players may think. For that reason, Altair Ibn-La’Ahad, and some other Mythic Rare Assassins, got a lot more expensive than expected.

Altair is a less popular Commander than the other two Mythic Rare Assassins above this card in terms of price, but it is a popular inclusion in many Assassin-based 99s that can run it.

3 | Ezio Auditore da Firenze

Price: $18

As one of the first Assassin’s Creed cards to be revealed, people have been talking about Ezio Auditore da Firenze for a while. Thanks to this, it’s little wonder they’re the most popular Commanders from the set, according to EDHREC. Offering a full WUBRG color identity and a pair of strong abilities too, there’s a lot to love about this card.

While Ezio Auditore da Firenze gives all your Assassin spells Freerunning, they’re hardly broken in terms of power level. Even their second ability, which can make players lose instantly, doesn’t push them over the edge. Instead, Ezio Auditore da Firenze is just an interesting Commander card that players are excited to build with.

Most of this excitement comes from the Assassin’s Creed set itself. Since Ezio Auditore da Firenze lets you play everything, they’re perfect for an Assassin’s Creed-themed deck. With Ezio in charge, you don’t have to pick and choose which new cards you can play. Instead, you can just play all the fun stuff and have a flavorful five-color good stuff time!

Thanks to very few Assassin’s Creed packs actually being opened, Ezio Auditore Da Firenze ended up doubling in price since the release of the set.

2 | Sword of Feast and Famine

Price: $21

Currently, Sword of Feast and Famine is the second most expensive card in the Assassin’s Creed MTG set. Considering this popular Commander card typically sells for around $40, it’s no wonder it’s claimed this title. Whether you’re playing it to force discards, untap lands, or just protect your creatures, this sword just works.

Once again, while there’s no denying the strength of Sword of Feast and Famine, its current price point is surprising. Originally, listings on TCGplayer for this card were as low as $16, which seems insane given the card’s strength. Now, the card is beginning to climb back up following the set’s unpopular reception.

Right now, it’s entirely unclear how well the Assassin’s Creed set is going to sell. While its reprints are reprints by definition, if no one cracks packs, they won’t matter much. Due to this, the Sword of Feast and Famine’s price seems very likely to change soon. For that reason, it may be worth picking this card up while its relatively cheap.

Price: $25

The most expensive card in the set is the most sought-after Commander of the set: Edward Kenway. Assassin’s Creed does not appear to be very popular, meaning that any cards that have any level of demand are going to skyrocket in price. Edward Kenway is a card that enough people want, so the price has risen.

Edward Kenway opens up a rather unique Commander space, utilizing Assassins, Vehicles and Pirates in a unique way.
