She was born December 18, 1929 in Johnston County, the daughter of the late Jeptha Barefoot and Viola Williams Barefoot. Ms. Peaco*ck was a member of Unity Presbyterian church. She graduated from Meadow High School in 1949. After high school she worked for Dorothea Dix Hospital in Raleigh, Philips Ice Cream Company in Clinton where her favorite flavor was Hawaiian Delight, and on her family's farm in the Meadow Community.
