Aladin et la lampe merveilleuse
Directed by Jean Image
Synopsis
In all the Arabian Nights There Is Nothing As Magical As The Adventures of Aladdin.
He travels to Aladdin's village, identified as being near the border with China, where he enlists Aladdin's help by pretending to be his long-lost uncle and offering to leave his wealth to Aladdin. At one point, the Magician character tells the story of his travels to China, India and Persia and we see a montage of these adventures and it's kind of interesting because of the way it invokes other cultures of the era. There is some unnecessary padding throughout as characters break into songs that do nothing but tell parts of Once upon a time, somewhere in Africa, a local magician dreamed of owning the Magic Lamp. Thanks to a Magic Ball he learned that the Lamp could be found in an Asian village and that only the innocent hand of a young person could snatch it. He traveled to the place, a village called Three Hill City, close to the Chinese border. There lived Aladdin

The best version of Aladdin is probably to just read it. This version looks like a Scooby Doo cartoon. Not highly recommended, but pretty fun at the end of the day. Kind of funny to contrast this with the other "wish"movie I saw recently, the awful Wonder Woman '84. This movie is real simple, it was kind of refreshing to see a kid get his magic lamp and just wish for a ton of money and a princess and then get it.

This is a harmless film, and not in a good way. I mean, the plot is OK, same with the music and animation. The designs are a little odd, but they do the job, I guess. But I can't find anything that this movie excels at. It's a very forgettable movie.
Even though I hated 1001 Arabian Nights (1959) because of the Magoo Addition, I think that movie had more personality than this one. Everything felt so dull and not fun. Even the story felt dry and dead at times for me.

Really makes me appreciate what Musker and Clements did in 1992. I know it was a small staff with limited with time and money, but this really feels like it should have been a tv special not a theatrical release. Not a painful watch but well below average.
Side note: not sure why this doesn't have a US release date on here, as far as I can tell it was definitely theatrically released in the US on July 1, 1975.

i liked the art in it! the colors and music were very soothing to watch and listen to!
older animation just has that odd charm to it.

No animation masterpiece, but a film of simple beauty and haunting music that would appeal to any child ...
1969 was a very special year that saw the release of two of my fondest childhood films: "Tintin and the Temple of Sun" and "Aladdin and the Magic Lamp". And like the 'Tintin' movie, I guess I can say about 'Aladdin' that it's so rooted in my childhood that I can't give it an objective review.
Indeed, watching "Aladdin and the Magic Lamp" is like listening to a beautiful lullaby; only rather than making me sleep like a baby, it wakes up the inner child in me, this little guy who didn't need special effects, 3D animation or superheroes to get…
